Juan Guillermo Riancho is a Spanish, Canadian and Venezuelan graduate lawyer. Specialized in Corporate, Commercial, Oil & Gas transactions both Upstream and Downstream he has extensive international legal practice in the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, US & Canada

 With a career spanning over 30 years, he worked as Senior Legal Counsel for 12 years for British Petroleum (BP) in different legal positions as Upstream and Downstream lawyer in several jurisdictions around the world including Houston, Texas (US), Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, Spain and Italy.  He was also a member of the European Compliance Committee monitoring business ethics and compliance in European subsidiaries of BP across Europe. 

In 2010 Juan Guillermo was appointed Senior Legal Counsel in Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman with responsibility for the legal advice in all Upstream activities and operations of the company in Oman and internationally, including oil fields in Kazakhstan.

In 2014 he was appointed General Counsel in Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), the downstream international company which belongs to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation conglomerate, owned by the State of Kuwait. As General Counsel in KPI he led an international and multicultural team of more than 30 lawyers across Europe and the legal teams involved in the drafting and negotiation of all major agreements for the development of megaprojects (EPC contract for construction of large refineries and petrochemical facilities) In Asia.   

In 2018 he was awarded by the prestigious institution Legal 500 as leading lawyer member of one of the most powerful and effective legal teams in the Middle East.
